Biography
Rob is the Bank of America Distinguished University Professor of Supply Chain Management in the College of Management at North Carolina State University and also the founder and Director of the Supply Chain Resource Consortium at NC State. Rob received the Henry Latane Distinguished PhD Alumni Award in 2001, recognizing him as one of the most notable doctoral students in history to graduate from the school. Prior to his appointment at NC State University, Rob served as an Associate Professor and Faculty Research Associate with the Global Procurement and Supply Chain Benchmarking Initiative in the Eli Broad College of Management at Michigan State University, from 1992-1998. During this period, a study published in the Journal of Operations Management ranked him in the Top 25 Most Productive SCM/POM Authors in U.S. Business Schools in 1996. In 2001, leading academics in the field elected Rob to serve as the Editor of the Journal of Operations Management, (listed as the top 25 most influential academic journals by the Financial Times). He also serves as the Area Editor of Supply Chain Management for Decision Sciences, and writes a column on Supply Chain Management in APICS: The Performance Advantage.Teaching and Research interests

Rob has published 60+ refereed articles in academic journals including the Sloan Management Review, Supply Chain Management Review, California Management Review, Journal of Operations Management, Decision Science, Journal of Product Innovation Management, and IEEE Transactions in Engineering Management. He is the recipient of several major research grants from the National Science Foundation and the Center for Advanced Purchasing Studies.
