Dr Benn Lawson has been awarded an EPSRC First Grant to investigate the management of supplier integration in new product development (total value £200,000). The two-year project is due to begin in 2007 and will employ a post-doctoral research officer. Professor Cousins addressed the Manufacturing Institute's 2007 Supply Chain Conference on the 24 & 25 January at The Manufacturing Institute, Trafford Park, Manchester.
Keynote address to CIPS Branch Members in Leeds: Professor Cousins delivered the November regional member-only event on "Relationship management" in Leeds. Were he received an 'excellent' from 75% of delegates, one of whom described him as "one of the best speakers I've heard in many years".
Dr Brian Squire, deputy director of SCMRG, delivered a presentation to HM Treasury entitled "Selecting Suppliers for Sustainability: An AHP Approach". The presentation was part of a PSL Steering Group on the 12th of October 2006.

Prof Cousins, Key Note Address To CIPS members in Melbourne, Australia: Prof Cousins flew to Melbourne in September to give a key note address at the annual CIPS Australia conference. He spoke about the challenges and future issues for procurement professionals.

A paper by Dr Benn Lawson, Professor Paul Cousins and Associate Professor Beverly Tyler - "Social capital effects on relational performance improvement: An information processing perspective" - has been included in the Best Paper Proceedings 2006 Academy of Management Annual Meeting. This represents only the top 10% of presented papers.
Professor Paul Cousins' recent paper on "The alignment of appropriate firm and supply strategies for competitive advantage" has been Highly Commended. The paper was published in the International Journal of Operations and Production Management Volume 25, Issue 5.
