The Supply Chain Management Research Group (SCMRG) is based at Manchester Business School and was established in September 2005. It aims to become a leading international centre of excellence for the study and application of supply chain management theory and techniques by developing a discourse in SCM grounded specifically in management theory.

It aims to involve leading scholars, companies and practitioners in debate and the development of applied tools and techniques to improve SCM processes.

SCMRG are currently sponsored by the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS). In addition, further funding is currently being sought from a range of industrial sponsors, through the establishment of a purchasing consortium and through government research funding councils.

New Pod and Video Podcast Series: We launched our new podcast series in the summer of 2007. These podcasts accompanies our very successful Executive Briefing series. They will generally be around 5-10 mins maximum. It is our aim to record these for the most popular briefings and all registered members will be able to download our podcasts. Click here to access the members registration page and gain access to our Podcast Series. So far we have recorded an audio podcast and also a video podcast. As we are currently experimenting with the format we would welcome any feedback that you might have.

Breakfast Briefings: SCMRG in collaboration with management consultants Deloitte and the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply have launched an Executive Breakfast Briefing Series. The briefings are designed to provide updates of our current research projects and are aimed at Chief Purchasing Officers. Briefings last for approximately one hour, with some time for questions and we aim to hold around four of these a year in various locations around the UK. The last session on 26 September 2007 was well attended. Full details of future briefings will be sent out to SCMRG members and will also be available on the CIPS website. Deloitte Consulting Partnership
SCMRG and Deloitte Consulting (DC) have agreed to partner on a range of activities. Principally DC will help us to print and brand our Exec Briefing papers. We will also be producing an annual publication, including briefings and case studies. DC will also fund an annual lecture – more to follow on this.
